[MW:10831] correction of bulged shape by hydraulic Jack

Dear all,

 Greetings.

After PWHT bulging was observed in inlet wear pad located inside surface of the Vessel. The actual shape of the pad was concave and it is directly welded to dished head of the vessel. Because of the bulging the shape has become convex.

Material for wear pad is – SA 516 GR. 70 N (HIC) -10 mm Thk, DISHED HEAD Material is - SA 516 GR70 N (HIC)- 16 mm Thk. Construction code is – ASME SEC VIII DIV1

Contractor has decided to rectify the problem by cold working (by hydraulic Jacking).

Please suggest whether this can be accepted. What will be the effect of jacking on the base material/Weld Joint.

Which NDT shall be performed.

Thanks and Regards

Asad Azmi
